Botox

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical procedure that smooths the deep, persistent lines and wrinkles that develop over time. In fact , BOTOX® Cosmetic is the only FDA- approved treatment for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in patients 18 to 65 years of age.

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic utilizes a natural, purified protein that is administered at very low doses to reduce the contractions of the muscles that cause those persistent frown lines that have developed over time. While the results are dramatic, it will not radically change your facial appearance. The muscles are simply relaxed, so you can still frown, smile, or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases.

What is a BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment like?
BOTOX® Cosmetic procedures are fast, simple, and minimally invasive, and no anesthesia is required. Injections are administered with an ultra-fine needle directly into the area being treated. Discomfort is minimal and brief, and once complete, there is usually no discomfort. Most people return directly to work or normal activity following treatment. So there’s no recovery or downtime.

What areas can be treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments can be performed in a number of locations, including between your brows, eye area, smile lines, and neck. Effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic appear within a few days and generally last from four to six months. Individual results may vary.

How soon will I see a difference?
You can expect to see results within days after your treatment. The appearance of the area between your brows may continue to improve for up to 3 weeks.

Are there any side effects?
Patients with neurological disorders such as ALS, Myasthenia Gravis, or Lambert- Eaton Syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects. The most common include headache, respiratory infection, flu syndrome, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. Others side effects include pain and redness where the medicine is injected, pain in the face, and muscle weakness. These effects generally occur within the first week and usually go away on their own. Your own results may vary. Be sure to talk to Dr. Honeycutt about what you can expect.

What happen if I decide not to continue?
I you decide not to continue with BOTOX® Cosmetic, the area treated will eventually go back to its pretreatment appearance.

What about BOTOX® and the treatment of excessive sweating?
BOTOX® is also an effective treatment for excessive sweating or Hyperhidrosis and is addressed under the medical section of our website. Insurance typically covers BOTOX for the treatment of hyperhidrosis when other treatments have either failed or are not tolerated.

Ask to schedule a consultation to determine the approximate number of treatments recommended for optimum results.

Celluma LED Light Therapy

Celluma light therapy is based on LED technology and is the application of light energy to the body for aesthetic benefits. It promotes a natural photo biochemical reaction similar to the process of plant photosynthesis. NASA’s Space Program has proven that LED light therapy (near-infrared) promotes wound healing and human tissue growth. The energy delivered by the LEDs has been shown to enhance cellular metabolism, accelerate the repair and replenishment of damaged skin cells, as well as stimulate the production of collagen – the foundation of a healthy and smooth skin.

Research has shown that LED Light Therapy may help to smooth skin texture, improve skin firmness and resilience, increase the lymphatic system activity, restore skin’s natural cellular activity, and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and superficial hyperpigmentation. The treatment is for all skin types and will not abrade any part of your skin, is non-invasive, painless, with absolutely no downtime. Clients can return to their normal activity immediately after the treatment.

Scientifically Proven in Clinical Trials LED light therapy has been scientifically proven by over 300 clinical trials to re-regulate cellular function in the treatment of many common conditions, restoring the body's natural ability to heal itself. Contrasted to many widely accepted therapies where vital tissue is intentionally damaged to illicit a healing response in the affected area of the body, using LED light to "re-energize" cellular function in a non-invasive manner allows the body to maintain vitality as nature intended.

"LED reacts with cytochromes in the body," explains Dr. Harry Whelan, professor of pediatric neurology and director of hyperbaric medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. "Cytochromes are the parts of cells that respond to light and color. When cytochromes are activated, their energy levels go up, and that stimulates tissue growth and regeneration.”

Red and Blue Light Benefits include:
Increased skin radiance
Firms aged and tired skin
More consistent skin coloration/complexion
Increases moisture retention
Increases circulation
Promotes Collagen production
Increases oxygenation and restoration of cellular activity
ncreases lymphatic drainage/detoxifies
Reduces inflammation in conditions such as acne and rosacea
Reduces sebum/controls breakouts
Softens fine lines and periorbital wrinkles
Evens out mottled complexion
Tightening of enlarged pores

Do LED Treatments work on everyone?
LED treatments are proven to work on all skin types. Women who are pregnant, and clients with Epilepsy, should consult their physician before beginning LED light therapy treatments. You must wait five days after Botox or cosmetic fillers. Caution will be taken with medications that are known to cause light sensitivity.

Are there any special preparations required before using Celluma?
Celluma should be in close proximity with the skin, which should be free of clothing, make-up, or anything else which may deflect the light away from the skin.

How many treatments will I need?
This depends largely on the severity of the skin condition that is being treated, and how much improvement is needed. For optimal results, the recommended frequency of red or blue LED light treatments is one 30-minute session two times a week for 4-6 weeks. Maintenance treatments are recommended every 30-60 days.

Schedule your personal consultation to learn more and determine the recommended number of treatments for best results.

Chemical Peels and Enzyme Treatments

Image Skincare peels effectively treat wrinkles, blemishes and uneven skin pigmentation featuring all-natural ingredients in an aloe vera base. Each of our peels has been created with certain key ingredients to target specific skin problems. Our wide variety of peels can take you from organic peeling to medical grade TCA peeling. These resurfacing treatments will promote cellular turnover by deeply exfoliating the skin and removing dead or damaged skin cells. Recovery time may vary. A series of treatments is recommended, and the frequency will depend based on the depth of the peel and the skin condition. Some clients will need “pre-treating” 2 weeks prior to a chemical peel to prepare their skin.

Signature Facelift
A resurfacing formula that contains vitamin C, alpha and beta hydroxy acids, with gentle yet effective enzymes to speed up cellular turnover to lighten, tighten and brighten all skin types; great for rosacea, sensitive, dry/dehydrated skin types, and even pregnant women.

Ormedic Lift
A blend of papaya, pineapple, and mango, this non-chemical peel naturally rebalances, regenerates, and restores your skin using organic ingredients with medical effectiveness; ideal for all skin types that have unbalanced and sensitive skin. This would be great for teens and pregnant women.

Acne Lift
This potent chemical peel for acne blends together Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids and contains anti-inflammatory agents to effectively treat and heal acne lesions. VI Peel
Superior Results for anti-aging, our VI Peel reverses the effects of sun damage, environmental factors and time, to enhance your skin's natural beauty. In addition to facial treatments, the VI Peel can also be used to treat sun damage on the chest and hands. The VI Peel is also highly effective in clearing acne and impurities for patients as young as twelve years old; a series of treatments may reduce acne scars. The peel is virtually painless, and a treatment takes 20 minutes or less. No skin preparation products are needed, and minimal or no down time is required.

Post Treatment Care
The initial 72 hours post-procedure are the most critical. Clients should adhere to the following guidelines:
o Avoid direct sun and extremes of heat (hot showers, saunas, jacuzzi, etc.)
o Discontinue use of any products containing alpha and beta hydroxyl acids, retinols, as well as using manual exfoliants (Clarisonic, scrubs, etc). For lighter resurfacing treatments, clients may continue their regular skin care regime after 72 hours, and for deeper peels, approximately 1-2 weeks or when the skin is no longer flaking and peeling.
o Apply a sunscreen (a minimum of SPF 30 or higher that protects you against UVA and UVB rays), wear a hat during the recovery period, and limit sun exposure.
o No scratching or peeling, avoid exercise for the first 24 hours, and drink plenty of water.

Schedule your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Honeycutt to discuss which chemical peel treatment is best to treat your skin condition.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a relatively new form of manual exfoliation meant to be performed primarily on the face. Also known as leveling the skin or simply blading, the treatment involves the use of a sterile surgical blade. The blade is held against taut skin at a 45-degree angle and stroked in a manner similar to shaving. This method removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells, leaving the skin soft and supple. Along with sloughing away dead skin cells, dermaplaning can help reduce the visibility of slight wrinkling and acne scarring, as well as do away with extraneous vellus hairs or peach fuzz on the face. If desired, the procedure can be followed with a light chemical peel, which would be a part of our Micropeel service.

Who can be dermaplaned?
Dermaplaning is safe for all skin types and skin tones and is a great alternative to chemical peels or microdermabrasion for anyone who has fine facial hair, extremely sensitive skin, redness or rosacea, or visible facial veins. The only skin type that we don’t recommend dermaplaning for is very oily or acne-prone skin. The oil from the sebaceous glands needs to travel up and connect with the vellus hair in order for it to be excreted. If the hair is removed and the oil builds up, the glands are obstructed and can cause more breakouts.

Worried about removing facial hair?
Contrary to popular belief, shaving of the face will not make the hair grow back thicker, faster, or darker. When vellus hairs are cut, they grow back with the same thickness and length as before, only with a blunt tip and are expected to return in approximately two to four weeks post procedure. Excessive “face fuzz” can trap oil and dirt which can lead to other skin problems. Best of all, the removal of the vellus hair and dead skin cells allows for the proper penetration of other facial products, increasing their efficacy and ultimately their results.

How often should I have it done?
It is recommended that the procedure be done every 3 to 4 weeks, which coincides with a normal skin cycle of approximately 30 days.

Contraindications of Dermaplaning:
Current inflamed acne lesions
Skin cancer
Active cold sores
Uncontrolled diabetes
Dermatitis
Open skin lesions
Use of Accutane currently or in the past 6 months
Use of prescription retinol within a week of treatment and must refrain from use till a week after.

FotoFacial RF

What is the FotoFacial RF?
FotoFacial RF brings a unique combination of Intense Pulse Light (IPL) and powerful Radio Frequency energy that act synergistically to enhance the skin. This procedure has increased in popularity and recognition to the point where it is now one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in North America. This remarkable and innovative treatment modality uses an ELOS (electro-optical synergy) technology thar is FDA- approved for facial rejuvenation.

Who are candidates for FotoFacialRF/ IPL?
Sun damage is very prevalent in residents of Texas. Most people who live here for even a few years exhibit some evidence of sun damage in the form of dilated capillaries, brown spots, diffuse redness over the face, neck, chest, and hands. Sun exposure also accelerates wrinkles around the eyes, cheeks, and mouth. Those people who have noticeable signs of excessive sun damage including redness, dilated capillaries, wrinkles, brown spots, areas of diffuse pigmentation, and coarse skin texture are all ideal candidates for FotoFacialRF/IPL.
Rosacea, a exceedingly common skin affliction is manifest by facial redness, spontaneous uncontrolled flushing and blushing, and acne breakouts. While topical and oral antibiotics reduce the associated acne breakouts, until IPL there was no effective treatment for the redness, flushing, and blushing. Now this common skin disorder is readily and effectively treated by FotoFacial/RF. Flushing, blushing, and redness can be reduced as much as 80% in many cases, and acne breakouts improved substantially as well.

What is a FotoFacialRF/IPL treatment like? How long do they take? Are they painful?
FotoFacial/RF treatments are simple, convenient, and quick. After covering your eyes with protective glasses, we place a thin layer of cool gel over the treated area, press the IPL/RF device onto your skin and flash. The flashes are repeated until the entire area has been treated. Depending on the size of the area, a FotoFacial/RF treatment usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes. Any pain associated with the flashes is reduced to a bare minimum with a special device that cools your skin. After a treatment, you can put on makeup immediately and return to your regular activities.

Do I need more than one treatment?
FotoFacialRF/IPL does not exert its full beneficial effect in only one treatment; they must be repeated over several weeks. Three to five treatments over the span of twelve weeks are often required. That is, one treatment every three weeks. To optimize results, we often combine treatments with superficial skin peels between the FotoFacial/RF treatments.

What type of results from FotofacialRF/IPL can I expect? How much improvement will I see?
Our FotoFacial/RF Program consists of treatments three weeks apart. In the interval weeks between FotoFacial/ RF treatments to maximize the benefits, we combine FotoFacial/RF with superficial peels, either Microdermabrasion or a light chemical peel. These superficial peels remove the layer of dead skin that can decrease the IPL/RF penetration of the skin. Additionally, we treat the skin with a variety of skin care products, based on our patient's skin type. Some individuals, particularly those with darker skins and/or heavy pigmentation may require several weeks of skin care products prior to initiating the FotoFacial/RF Program.

We see usually a 75% improvement in redness, dilated capillaries, brown spots, hyperpigmentation and skin texture with FotoFacial/RF. Improvement in fine wrinkles, is variable. Overall, your skin will look brighter, fresher, and more youthful. It will shine again as it once did when you were younger.

Are there any people who cannot undergo FotoFacial/RF?
Fotofacial/RF is not indicated in patients with connective tissue disease or auto immune disorders. It cannot be done during pregnancy, nor can it be done on recently sun-tanned skin (we wait until the tan fades) or in those who may receive excess sun exposure for a few weeks following treatment. It cannot be used on patients taking Accutane. Photosensitive medications such as some antibiotics, anti-anxiety drugs, sulfa drugs may be a contraindication. Care must be taken in patients who get fever blister attacks on the lips (cold sores). An anti-herpes medication can be taken to avoid activation of this virus. There is no age limit for FotoFacial/RF.

How long will the beneficial effects of Fotofacial/RF last? Will I need additional treatments to maintain the results?
After your initial treatments we recommend maintenance treatments every 6 months. However, even without regular follow up treatments, the positive results of our Fotofacial/RF treatments can last a considerable length of time. Of course, sun exposure, smoking, aging, etc., can reduce the longevity of these benefits.

What conditions will this treatment not help?
Fotofacial/RF won't treat frown lines, sometimes known as lines of expression on the face, especially the forehead and between the brows. These are very effectively treated by BOTOX® Cosmetic injections which Dr. Honeycutt provides. Fotofacial/RF is not a substitute for a face-lift and will not help baggy or sagging skin. It will not cure the puffiness around the eyes for which blepharoplasty surgery is usually performed. It is not a treatment for skin cancer. It won't remove bumpy moles but can reduce their pigment. Although, it will remove acquired freckling, genetic freckles usually return after treatment. It will not remove Seborrheic keratoses, also known as age spots. It also will not remove sebaceous hyperplasias, a benign growth of oil glands in the skin.

Are there any side effects?
Most side effects of Fotofacial/RF are mild and of short duration. These can consist of short-term discomfort during the treatment. There is sometimes mild pinkness immediately following treatment, lasting less than 24 hours in most people, on rare occasions it may last up to three days. Mild blistering is possible, but in our experience occur in less than 1% and usually clear very quickly. A post treatment increase in pigmentation (hyperpigmentation) has been noted on occasion but is either transient or highly treatable and uncommon. Even more rare is a decrease in pigmentation (hypopigmentation) of the skin after treatments.

What requirements are necessary to have this treatment?
All patients must have a consultation prior to the procedure. At the time of the first treatment, each patient will be tested to properly evaluate the correct settings for the patient's skin condition and skin type. These parameters will then be recorded in the patient’s chart for future reference. An informed consent document must be signed prior to the initial treatment.

What if I have a low tolerance for pain or sensitive skin?
The application of a cooling tip during the treatment reduces any pain to a minimum. We have extensive experience with patients who have sensitive skin, always listen to their concerns, and treat accordingly.

Who administers the treatments?
All patients will be evaluated by Dr. Lori Honeycutt as to their suitability for FotoFacial/RF. The treatment itself is performed by our experienced Licensed Esthetician.

Is there anything special I have to do prior to a Fotofacial/RF treatment?
Prior to your appointment, all make-up or creams must be removed. Men will be asked to shave on the day of treatment, prior to their arrival at the office. If any herpetic lesions (cold sores) or bacterial infections are noted on the day of the procedure, the treatment will be canceled until the condition has resolved.

Can I accomplish the same results with Laser Resurfacing as Fotofacial/RF?
No. Laser Resurfacing may very well help wrinkles, but it does not affect or remove blood vessels or flushing and deep pigmentation. Further, it usually requires time away from work and your usual every day activities. Downtime is at least two weeks and up to a few months of redness in the treated areas can occur. Laser resurfacing has a valuable place in the treatment of certain conditions of the face, but it is not a substitute for the Fotofacial/RF.

Can I accomplish the same results with Chemical Peels, Or Microdermabrasion?
No, these treatments by themselves cannot achieve the results of FotoFacial/RF. Microdermabrasion and light chemical peels enhance the benefits of FotoFacial/RF and are used in conjunction with FotoFacial/RF treatments.

Will FotoFacial/RF treatments help my acne scars?
Shallow scars including fine lines may be improved, but "ice pick" type acne scarring and deep scars will not be helped. Laser resurfacing is usually indicated here.

What if the redness and sun damage extends to my neck, chest, hands, and arms? Can these areas be treated?
Yes, these areas can also be treated successfully, much like the face. Many women especially are delighted to get rid of the "V-neck" effect of sun-damage that has accumulated in these areas from years of sun exposure.

What do treatments cost?
Experience has shown us that we cannot predict how many treatments any patient may need. Therefore, we charge for FotoFacial/RF on individual treatment basis only. There is an additional charge for the neck, chest, or hands but they are discounted when multiple areas are treated.

Ask to schedule a consultation to determine the approximate number of treatments recommended for optimum effects.

Fraxel Laser Treatment

Over time, our skin begins to display the effects of aging. Natural factors such as sun exposure, gravity, and hormones can actually speed up the aging process. Our skin begins to break down resulting in fine lines around the eyes and lips, deeper lines and grooves in the brow, and much more. One day we wake up to find that our face no longer has that youthful, vibrant appearance it once had, or that we would like it to have.

What is FraxelTM?
Fraxel Laser Treatment (FLT) is an innovative, non-invasive laser therapy designed to dramatically repair fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars while improving skin texture and pigmentation–even on delicate skin. It is a proven, safe approach to repairing aging and sun-damaged skin, with many of the benefits of ablative laser skin resurfacing, but without the downtime, side effects, and lengthy recovery periods.

How Fraxel Fits
Fraxel is for people who want to look good and want real results, but don’t want the overly-drastic change or extended downtimes that comes with surgery. Fraxel fits into any lifestyle and your current beauty regimen:
Non-invasive, clinically proven to be safe, easily managed into your routine
Real change you just can’t get from lotions and creams
Simple, effective treatment that really reverses signs of aging

How it works. What is does.
Fraxel is the original fractional laser treatment that works below the skin’s surface from the top down, addressing imperfections like fine lines, visible photo aging, wrinkles, scarring and age spots. Fraxel light energy stimulates your skin’s natural collagen, rejuvenating skin cells below the surface to help smooth the creases and pockets that cause wrinkles and scars. Fraxel only treats targeted problem areas – so the results are focused and effective.

How many treatments will I need?
A typical treatment regemin consists of betwee 3 to 6 sessions, which are approximately 30 minutes long, and scheduled on to three weeks apart. During your consultation, Dr. Honeycutt will establish the number of treatments necessary as well as the frequency.

How are Fraxel treatments different from other laser treatments?
A novel approach to laser skin treatment, Fraxel represents a new science and category of cosmetic skin surgery that offers patients the positive results of ablative laser resurfacing with the low-impact benefits of non-ablative laser or light-based therapies. Unlike the often prolonged healing involved with ablative lasers that remove the top layer of skin, the Fraxel Laser Treatment procedure produces tiny, microscopic sites of thermal impact separated by areas of unaffected, healthy tissue. The spared healthy tissue between treatment zones contains viable cells that promote rapid healing of the outer skin layers.

What conditions can be treated?
Wrinkles, poor texture, large pores, sun spots, brown spots, scars, melisma, and uneven pigmentation can be treated successfully with the Fraxel laser. Optimal improvement is usually visible in about 2 to 3 months.

Are there side effects?
Side effects are minimal and usually limited to a sunburn-like redness that disappears anywhere from an hour to a day or two, depending on the level of treatment you have received. Discomfort fades quickly, but the skin may maintain a bronzed or pinkish tone for 5 to 7 days. You may also experience some mile swelling for up to 3 days. As the new epidermal tissue replaces the damaged tissue, your skin will flake off.

Schedule a consultation with Dr. Honeycutt and discover how FraxelTM can benefit you.

JUVÉDERM® XC

Over time, your skin loses elasticity, which contributes to moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. While serums and creams work on the skin’s surface, JUVÉDERM® XC adds volume to smooth these lines and folds, to help give you the subtle, long-lasting results you want.

JUVÉDERM® is the #1 selling collection of hyaluronic acid fillers in the US. First approved by the FDA in 2006, JUVÉDERM® XC corrects moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds or ‘smile lines’ around the nose and mouth.

JUVÉDERM® XC is injected into areas of facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur to temporarily add volume to the skin, giving the appearance of a smoother surface.

Like all JUVÉDERM fillers, JUVÉDERM® XC is a smooth, crystal-clear gel that provides subtle, long-lasting results. Its effectiveness has been proven time and time again, delivering real results that last up to 1 year.

Laser Hair Removal

One of the most common cosmetic concerns today is unwanted facial and body hair. Until recently, shaving, tweezing, waxing, bleaching or electrolysis were the only options to remove hair and they produced very temporary results.

Laser hair removal works by destroying the follicle that grows the hair. Laser light is attracted to the dark pigment in hair and zeros in on the hair follicle. Laser hair removal works best on black or brown colored hair; light blonde, red, white or gray hair will not attract the laser light.

Hair passes through three growth stages:
Active
Transition
Resting

The follicle must be treated during the growth phase, which occurs every 4 to 5 weeks. In order to capture all the follicles in a growth phase, a series of laser treatments must be spaced 4- 6 weeks apart. Our experience has been that 6 or more treatments are necessary to achieve optimal hair removal.

Patients always want to know if the hair removal is permanent. Our expectation is that the results will last for years, however hormonal changes in the body can occur later on in our lives and re-trigger hair growth. In this situation, touch-up treatments may be necessary for maintenance.

Below is a list of contraindications that may prevent you from being an ideal candidate for a laser hair removaltreatment:
o Photosensitizing Medications (Many different types of antibiotics can make the skin more sensitive and prone to damage. We advise clients not to take any antibiotics at least two weeks prior to treatment. Before undergoing treatment, be sure to inform the practitioner of any antibiotics or medications you are taking, so that they can schedule your laser hair removal sessions accordingly.)
Accutane
Tattoos on the treated area
Unshaven Hair
Sunburned skin or having a recent sun tan
Self-tanners (need to be discontinued two weeks before a laser hair removal treatment)

Those who have herpes simplex virus I or II should tell the aesthetician that is performing the laser hair removal before treatments have begun. It will be necessary to take a prescription antiviral medication for several days both before and after the curative. If the hair removal is in the area of previous outbreaks, it is workable that the heat from the laser will cause a flare up of the herpes virus. If a herpes outbreak is active, either on the face or genital location, it is important to reschedule the session.
Waxing, tweezing, and using depilatory creams on the hairs to be treated is also a strong contraindication for laser hair removal and needs to be avoided about one month prior to your first treatment, and throughout the course of treatments. These hair removal methods remove the hair follicle from the root and makes laser hair removal inefficient. In addition, use of hair bleaching products also needs to be avoided, as these types of products are strong and can irritate the skin.

In addition to the aforementioned contraindications, it also recommended not to wear any makeup, perfume or lotion in the treatment area prior to a laser hair removal session, just to avoid further irritation.

Contact Absolute Dermatology and Medi-Spa to schedule your one-on-one consultation to determine the approximate number of treatments recommended for optimum effects.

Microdermabrasion

DiamondTome™ provides skin resurfacing similar to particle microdermabrasion in its results, but without the adverse effects of loose particles, irritation and skin reaction. Unlike traditional microdermabrasion treatments that use a stream of crystals, the DiamondTome™ uses no loose abrasives to contaminate you or the environment. The system utilizes natural diamond chips embedded onto the tip pf patented stainless steel wands. The result is skin with a radiant glow, free of irritation and loose particles with no downtime required for the treatment.

How does DiamondTome™ work?
DiamondTome™ removes the topmost layer of skin by gently exfoliating the skin with wands covered with small, natural diamond chips, while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of dead skin cells leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells. Patients experience softer, smoother and cleaner skin after the first treatment.

Who are good candidates for Microdermabrasion?
It is perfect for people with active lives or anyone who wants to improve the overall health and appearance of their skin.

Benefits Include:
Improves Skin Texture
Uneven skin color
Acne Scarring
Dull or Dry patches
Clogged pores and blackheads
Large pores
Fine Lines
Rough, thick or dry skin

Age Spots
Help control oily skin and acne

What are the side effects?
This is non-invasive peel, painless and requires no downtime from work or social activities. Normal activities may be resumed immediately after treatment. Your skin is free of redness, irritation and particles contamination.

How many treatments will I need?
To achieve maximum results, several treatments are recommended, typically scheduled 1 to 2 weeks apart. You will experience a progressive improvement throughout your treatment program.

Micropen Skin Needling

The Eclipse Micropen skin needling system allows for controlled induction of the skin's self-repair mechanism by creating micro "injuries" in the skin which trigger new collagen synthesis.

The results are smoother, firmer and younger looking skin.

Skin needling procedures are performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of the sterile Micropen needle head. The procedure is normally completed within 30-60 minutes depending on the required treatment and anatomical site.

After the procedure, the skin will be red and flushed in appearance in a similar way to moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. The skin's redness will diminish greatly after a few hours following the treatment and within the next 24 hours the skin will be generally calmed. After 3 days the skin will return to a normal or near normal appearance.

Contraindications: Keloids scars, history of eczema, psoriasis and other chronic conditions; history of actinic(solar) keratosis;history of Herpes Simplex infections; history of diabetes; presence of raised moles, warts on targeted area. Absolute contraindications include; scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities; Blood clotting problems; active bacterial or fungal infection; immuno-suppression; scars less than 6 months old. Not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing.

Platelet-Rich Plasma

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is blood plasma that has been enriched with platelets. As a concentrated source of autologous platelets, PRP contains several different growth factors and other cytokines that stimulate the healing of bone and soft tissue.

Blood-Derived Growth Factors
The internal essence of your blood contains life-giving fundamental protein growth factors. PRP utilizes a leading-edge patented technology specifically designed. With a simple quick and advantageous process, Dr. Honeycutt is able to derive a high concentration of biological nutrient-rich cells and create autologous platelet-rich plasma.

Dr. Honeycutt draws a similar amount of blood required for a basic lab test. Then she places the blood into a centrifuge and spins the blood at a very rapid rate to separate the platelets from the other components of the blood.

The platelet-rich plasma is activated to release at least 8 essential growth factors and signaling proteins. Platelet-rich plasma is a technology that deploys aspects of the blood-based biochemistry. Because all constitutes retrieved in PRP are exclusively from the patient (autologous in origin), there is virtually no risk of an allergic reaction or intolerance.

Nevertheless, before any treatment it is important to disclose all the medications you are taking (including herbs) with Dr. Honeycutt.

Growth Factor Production Known Effects

Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)
Plays a significant role in the regulation of cell growth, proliferation, and the differentiation during the remodeling phase. Stimulates keratinocyte and fibroblast production.

Transforming Growth Factor (TGF)
Promotes angiogenesis which is the physiological process involving the growth of new blood vessels.

Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)
An important signaling protein involved in both vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, the growth of the blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature.

Fibroblast Growth Factor (FGF)
Promotes angiogenesis, granulation, and epithelialization for the intricate process of the skin repairing itself after injury.

Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)
Attracts macrophages and fibroblasts to the zone of injury. Promotes collagen growth and proteoglycan synthesis.

Interleukins, Macrophages, keratinocytes, endothelial cells, Iymphocytes, fibroblasts, osteoblasts, basophils, mast cells.

Profound

Profound is a revolutionary new energy-based facial treatment designed to create new elastin, collagen, and hyaluronic acid – the building blocks that keep your skin smooth and elastic. All without surgery, fillers or toxins. Profound dramatically improves aging skin, so you can look years younger.

What is the effect of a lack of elastin and collagen as we age?
Starting in our mid 20’s, elastin starts to break down, becoming less elastic and losing its spring. Think of a lumpy mattress as the springs become old and lose their ability to work properly.

What is the best method to build elastin and collagen?
Profound is a clinically-proven treatment that builds elastin and collagen. Results have been demonstrated in multi-center studies on more than 100 patients evaluated at 6 months after treatment. By carefully healing the skin’s elastin and collagen to an exact temperature for an exact amount of time. Profound leads to the creation of new elastin and collagen to repair aging skin.

What types of treatments can be performed with Profound?
Profound can be used to treat nasolabial and melolabial folds, jowls, submental, submandibular redundancy and neck strands by repairing the dynamic properties of the skin, elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid, and restoring dermal volume loss.

Profound Lift to treat sagging jowls and loose skin under the neck.
Profound Contour to define the jawline (double chins).
Profound Smooth to treat other areas of loose skin

What is the Profound procedure like?
Profound is a quick, single treatment performed right here at Absolute Dermatology and Medi-Spa, usually in 45 minutes or less. Dr. Honeycutt will provide a local anesthetic to manage your comfort. The system delivers precise temperatures to the deeper skin layers, exactly where the energy being delivered is most beneficial. Patients can return to normal activities within 24 hours after treatment.

Is a Profound treatment right for me?
Ideal candidates for Profound are people who are seeking to reduce the signs of aging. In clinical studies, Profound treatments had a 100% response rate for the wrinkles and a 95% response rate for skin laxity. Findings based on results of a clinical study in 20 patients, measuring improvement in Fitzpatrick Wrinkle Scale at 3 months compared to baseline based on independent review of photographs.

RADIESSE®

Are wrinkles giving away your age? RADIESSE® volumizing filler can provide an instant lift by restoring lost volume in areas of your lower face, effectively treating moderate to severe wrinkles and folds.

RADIESSE® is an ideal option for adding lift to smile lines, marionette lines, pre-jowl folds, chin wrinkles and corners of the mouth. And it continues to work with your body, stimulating the natural production of collagen for a more refreshed appearance that can last up to a year or more.

How RADIESSE® Dermal Filler Smooths Skin Wrinkles & Folds
RADIESSE is a wrinkle filler used to plump the skin. RADIESSE is injected through a small needle and placed under the skin. Immediately, this filler works to add volume under the skin and over time, the benefits of RADIESSE continue by stimulating your body’s own natural collagen. The natural results have been shown to last a year or more in many patients, making the treatment results both immediate and long lasting.

RADIESSE is comprised of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. Once injected, it provides immediate volume and correction, but continues to work by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen. Over time, the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the CaHA microspheres leaving behind only your own natural collagen.

Why choose RADIESSE?
RADIESSE immediately replenishes lost volume and stimulates the production of your own natural collagen with results that can last a year or more in many patients.

At Absolute Dermatology and Medi-Spa, all dermal filler injections, including RADIEESE, are administered personally by Dr. Honeycutt, who has performed thousands of treatments since 2003.

RADIESSE is a viable option to help provide a long-lasting natural look while immediately smoothing wrinkles.

Don’t let wrinkles tell your life story. Contact us to schedule your personal consultation with Dr. Honeycutt and discover for yourself how RADIESSE volumizing filler can lift, contour, and rejuvenate.

Xeomin

FDA APPROVED. CLINICALLY PROVEN.
Frown lines form when facial expressions are made as the muscle under the skin contracts. Over time, as your skin ages, these repeated expressions cause lasting frown lines. Neurotoxins, such as XEOMIN®, are prescription medications that block the release of chemicals that cause these muscle contractions, so frown lines are softened.

STATE-OF-THE-ART MANUFACTURING PROCESS
XEOMIN® is made through a unique precision manufacturing process that isolates the therapeutic component of the molecule and removes the accessory proteins that don't play an active role in treatment. XEOMIN® is a highly purified neurotoxin. Studies have not been performed to determine whether the presence or absence of accessory proteins has a long-term effect on safety or efficacy.

WHAT IS XEOMIN®?
XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medication injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. XEOMIN® contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

HOW DOES XEOMIN® WORK?
When you squint or frown, the muscles between your eyebrows contract, causing the skin to furrow and fold. Over time, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions can cause persistent frown lines. Botulinum toxin type A – the active ingredient in XEOMIN®– acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, XEOMIN® can temporarily reduce the lines between your eyebrows.

IS XEOMIN® PROVEN?
XEOMIN® was proven effective in two randomized, double-blind, multicenter, placebo-controlled clinical trials of 547 healthy, adult patients. The average age of patients in the study was 46 years. Patients received 20 Units of XEOMIN® and were classified as responders if they had a 2-grade improvement on a 4-point scale as assessed by the physician and patient. Using these criteria, treatment success was higher with XEOMIN® than placebo on Day 30 in both studies (60% and 48% vs. 0% for placebo in both studies). Based on these trials, XEOMIN® received FDA approval for use in glabellar lines in 2011.

HOW DO I KNOW IF XEOMIN® IS RIGHT FOR ME?
If you are an adult with moderate to severe glabellar lines, XEOMIN® may be right for you. Talk to your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks of treatment. Do not take XEOMIN® if you are allergic to botulinum toxin or any of the other ingredients in XEOMIN®. You should also not take XEOMIN® if you have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product or have a skin infection at the planned injection site.

WHAT SHOULD I TELL MY DOCTOR BEFORE TREATMENT?
Before receiving treatment with XEOMIN®, you should tell your doctor about all of your medical conditions, including whether you have a disease that affects your muscles and nerves, have allergies to any botulinum toxin product, or have experienced any side effect from any other botulinum toxin in the past. In addition, tell your doctor about your medical history and all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Especially tell your doctor if you have received any other botulinum toxin product in the last four months or in the past. Be sure your doctor knows exactly which product(s) you received and when you received them.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING TREATMENT?
During treatment, which usually takes about 10-20 minutes, your doctor will inject XEOMIN® into the muscles in your forehead that cause frown lines between your eyebrows. No anesthesia is required; however, your physician may use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS?
You may begin to see visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injection. The median first onset of effect was less than a week. The maximum effect occurred at 30 days. The typical duration of effect was up to 3 months in clinical trials but may last significantly longer or shorter in individual patients.

ARE YOU CONCERNED ABOUT LOOKING PLASTIC OR OVERDONE?
Looking plastic or overdone is a common concern among individuals considering an in-office treatment for moderate to severe frown lines. Talk to your licensed, trained, healthcare professional. There are steps you can take to make you feel more comfortable. First, have a detailed discussion with your provider. You want to talk through every concern you have, until you feel comfortable. Your provider, who is experienced in facial anatomy, can determine the right options for you. For example, the most widely used procedure for moderate to severe frown lines is neurotoxin injections, a class of prescription medication that has been shown to be effective in many studies. Finally, ask for an FDA-approved product, such as XEOMIN®. Individual results may vary.

WHAT ARE THE MOST COMMON SIDE EFFECTS OF XEOMIN®?
XEOMIN® may cause serious side effects, including allergic reactions. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to XEOMIN® may include: itching, rash, redness, swelling, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint. Tell your doctor or seek medical help right away if you have wheezing, experience other asthma symptoms, or if you become dizzy or faint. In clinical trials of XEOMIN® for the treatment of frown lines between the eyebrows, headache was the most common side effect. XEOMIN® may cause loss of strength or general muscle weakness, blurred vision, or drooping eyelids within hours to weeks of taking XEOMIN®. If this happens, do not drive a car, operate machinery, or do other dangerous activities.

Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not subside. These are not all of the possible side effects of XEOMIN. Click here for important safety information.

Contact us to schedule your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Honeycutt to see if XEOMIN may be an effective treatment for you.
